What is Anodizing ?
Anodizing is an electrochemical process that converts the metal surface into an oxide finish.
At Ultraspec, we treat only aluminum even though nonferrous metals, such as magnesium and titanium, also can be anodized.

Chemical Conversion
Generally, a chemical conversion coating is a coating produced by a chemical or electrochemical treatmentic on a metallic surface. The result of those processes is the addition of a superficial layer containing a compound of the metal. This process can be used either as a stand alone finish or as a base for subsequent paint.
Brushing
Ultraspec offers different aluminum brushing services to enhance surface finish of your materials and parts. Better than a time-saver brushing finish, we do linear manual brushing over a belt equiped table and Van Gott type brushing giving a blur and mat finish.

Coloring
The anodized layer, as explained previously, is porous and can be colored. Ultraspec offers a choice of several colors of dye to fill the pores and thus change the appearance of your parts as needed. After the coloration, a sealing process prevents the loss of color in service. However, organic dyes tend to fade under prolonged exposure to UV radiation from the sun, especially black.
